Happy Mother's Day!

No swimming chatter today!

In honor of this special day, I have a recipe for St John’s drink of choice and a quick tour of the beaches of this Caribbean paradise.

Every island seems to have “their” island drink.  In the BVI that would be a “Painkiller”; Bermuda a “Dark & Stormy”, Puerto Rico a “Piña Colada”, but in St John it is called a “Bushwhacker”.  Our favorite place for one of these tropical delights is an establishment called, The Beach Bar.

On a St John Blog site recently, the Beach Bar and their bartender Boo was recognized as making the Best Bushwhacker on island!

The picture is one of Boo’s creations from our last visit.

The Drink is made by adding 1 oz Bailey's, 1 oz Frangelico, 1 oz Kahlua, 1 oz Dark Crème de Cacao, 1 oz Vodka, 1 oz Light Rum, 1 oz Coco Lopez and a full glass of ice.  Blend throughly.

Always serve in a plastic glass - NO RED SOLO CUPS! You have be able to see the art work.

Now is where you need some talent.  To be a true Bushwhacker it has to be artistic. You must decorate the drink by painting inside the cup with chocolate syrup, and then top with a chocolate design or your sweetie’s name.  Sprinkle with Fresh Nutmeg and Maraschino Cherry Garnish – and you have a Bushwhacker!

And for those who need a little extra artistic instruction here is a Bushwhacker decorating lesson by the Master.

Sometimes you will see it spelled Bushwacker, and I am not sure which is right.  Ahhhhh another job for the towel man!  Find the correct spelling of the drink.

Now that mom has a Bushwhacker in hand let us take a tour of the beaches on St John.  Click on the link and sit back and enjoy as we circumnavigate around the island in pictures
